Today on 9 November, headquarters in Tirol reported an afternoon avalanche on the Rettenbachferner in Ötztal valley. It was a slab avalanche that triggered when 2 persons were in theier descent path. The accident slope is on the shady flank at about 2800 m and is dotted with rocks.

Together with the Alpine Police, we will conduct investigations tomorrow (10 November). Further details added to the snowpack layering will be published on Tuesday, 12 November.
